Past Events: Tuesday, March 24th 7:00 - CLP Film Viewing of "Tarzan the Ape Man", McEachern lecture room in Furman Hall. History professor Nellie Boucher will lead a discussion about Culture and Empire afterwards. Saturday, March 28th 10:00am - Historical tour of downtown Greenville lead by Debbie Spear formerly of the Upstate History Museum. Park behind Soldiers' Rest. Meet at the main entrance of the Little Theatre. The tour will finish by noon. In the case of rain meet in the Upstate History Museum. Thursday, April 2nd - Viking Weapons and Combat Techniques Thursday, April 6th - CLP Film and Panel Discussion, The Battle of Algiers Tuesday, April 7th - Glenda Gilmore, Yale University, will give the 2nd annual George Tindall Lecture on Tuesday, April 7th at 7pm in Patrick Lecture Room (Plyler 126) in the new Townes Science Center."Raising the Red Flag in Gastonia and Greenville:~ Communists, Mill Workers, and African Americans on the Eve of the Great Depression" Wednesday, April 8th 5:30 pm- The History Department annual spring picnic. "The New Digs: Furman Campuses and the Evolution of a University, 1939-1973," recently opened at the Upcountry History Museum. The exhibit will continue at the museum through early March. Following that, it will be moved to the Furman Campus at the Gallery at Hipp Hall. So drop in and check out some beautiful old photos and historic objects from Furman's old campuses. This exhibit is curated by students Myles Surrett '09, Katie Hepworth '09, and Assistant Professor of History Dr. Courtney Tollison '99. Upcountry History Museum Naturalists opening George Tindall Lecuture 2008 Dinner following the inaugural George Tindall Lecture, given by Dr. Dan Carter, Education Foundation Professor Emeritus University of South Carolina.
