Hints and Suggestions for Using the Collection

Editorials in the collection have been grouped by event. Selecting one of the events in the "Editorials" section from the menu on the left side of the screen will produce a list of all available editorials about that event. This list of editorials can be displayed by date or by political party. Individual editorials can be displayed by following the relevant link. Once a specific editorial is displayed you can go directly to the next editorial in the sequence by following the [PREVIOUS][NEXT] links at the bottom of the page.

You can search through the editorials using a specific keyword or combination of keywords. Searches can match an individual word or words, words that appear together in a single sentence, or specific phrases. Wildcard searches are not currently available but will be added in the next major project update. Searches can be limited to those editorials produced in during a specific event, in a specific region of the country, or by a specific political party.

The mapping tool displays the geographic distribution of keyword results. The map shows relative usage frequencies for the keyword as used by individual newspapers.
